The Mercè Cultural Center is located in the old Mercè convent, a building built in the 14th century that was used as a military hospital during the 19th century and part of the 20th. From the year 1984 and after a complete rehabilitation, it opens its doors as a multipurpose cultural facility.
It currently hosts the Municipal School of Art (EMA) and the Municipal School of Humanities (EMA) two parallel and complementary projects that aim to provide the city with open spaces for artistic and humanistic training and , at the same time, to be a space for exchange between citizens and creators. The center also hosts the proposals and programs of other cultural agents, such as independent festivals, rehearsals, concerts, conferences, courses, meetings, presentations or exhibitions.
